Sri Lankan Fashion insight!!

Well, If I ask you what you think about Sri Lankan fashion what would be your answer.? Obviously now you are trying to imagine something about Sri Lankan fashion and the imagination might be something modern which is so westernized but this should not be the definition or the imagination as a Sri Lankan we should have. Sri Lankan traditional clothes are available and they are called as National dress (Sarong and a collarless shirt for men)  and Osari for women. For kids Sri Lankans have a special dress called Lama Sarie which does not have the wale of the osari. (lama sarie means kids' sarie)
 National dress
  Osari

 Kids' Saree (lama Saree)

Sri Lankan does not tend much to modify these traditional dress codes into modern fashions. But for some extent we can see on special occasions such as weddings etc. the new generation tend to modernize it.

Most of the time Sri Lankans are into modern European fashion trends and anything they adopt it very quickly. Even local celebrities, show presenters, kids almost everyone likes to adopt which have been introduced in the international market. Specially Hollywood and Bollywood trends capture the heart of all of the youngsters in Sri Lanka.

Even local designers follow the international trends and we could not see any local trends apart from traditional dress codes have been introduced to the local fashion market.

So what can we do to come out from this? Is it good to adopt these trends or not? If we think broadly even-though we are satisfied with the clothes and fashion a huge money goes out from the country. But we could not see a direct solution of saving these money to develop the fashion industry or the garment industry since we export clothes but never stitch clothes for our selves. This situation is taking place more than decades and a direct solution has not been taken up to now.
