To design a cloth first has to sketch out the figure of the model.

Steps to create the basic Sketch

·         Start by drawing your balance line a 90° angle down the center of the paper and dividing it into nine equal segments. Then lightly pencil in the head and neck (1 1/2 heads).

·         D raw in the shoulder line. Create the bust line and torso (2 heads).

·         D raw the waistline. Draw the hips and crotch (1 head).

·         D raw the legs (4 1/2 heads). Draw the feet (1 head in heels).

·         Draw the arms and hands, keeping in mind that, generally, the elbow hits at the waistline and the wrist at the crotch.

·         Place all appropriate style lines (princess seams, waistline, neck, etc.)

·         Repeat these steps until the croquis (Basic sketch in Italy) is in proportion and looks balanced.
